Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Theatre Breaks

Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes brings Roald Dahl's classic tale of bratty children, Oompa Loompas and chocolate gardens to the West End stage with the most faithful adaptation yet of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, starring Olivier and Tony Award-winning actor Douglas Hodge as the unforgettable Willy Wonka.

When poor Charlie Bucket learns that mysterious Mr Wonka is set to open his fantastic chocolate factory to five lucky children, he uses the little money he can spare to try to win a cherished Golden Ticket. The big day arrives and each excited kid enters with a guardian, but the bittersweet factory turns out to be far more wonderful and strange than any of them imagined.

With a book by Scottish playwright David Greig that takes unmatched inspiration from the original story, this new adaptation offers all the heart and twisted wit you'd expect. Sam Mendes directs, Hairspray’s Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman write brand new songs and lyrics, from huge ensemble pieces and memorable Oompa Loompa tunes to solo numbers for the eccentric Wonka himself.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory opens at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in June 2013 following previews from 23rd May. Don't miss your taste of this delicious new musical: book a theatre break with Show & Stay.
