The Architecture of the Vaudeville Theatre

The original theatre on this site was designed by C J Phipps and opened in 1870. The next Vaudeville Theatre was designed again by Phipps, opening in 1891. The four-storey facade of this theatre is still standing.
The Vaudeville theatre interior was revamped between 1925-1926 by Robert Atkins. The horseshoe auditorium of the original theatre was replaced with the rectangular layout of today. The Vaudeville Theatre has an audience capacity of 690 split over 3 levels.
