Turandot is an opera in three acts by Giacomo Puccini and tells the story of a man-hating ice princess and an unknown prince with a death defying passion to solve the riddle of her tortured heart.
This new production is directed by Rupert Goold and features German soprano Kirsten Blanck as the Ice Queen and Welsh tenor Gwyn Hugh Jones as the prince. Goold has recently celebrated success with both Macbeth and the West End remake of Oliver! while Blanck makes her UK stage debut.
Turandot is both dark and beautiful and a must see for fans of Puccini's work.
