Wicked Stars for Chess

Idina Menzel in Wicked

As previously reported Wicked's original Elphaba, Idina Menzel is to star in the 21st anniversary concert presentation of Chess at the Royal Albert Hall. The successful actress is to be joined by the current West End Elphaba herself, Kerry Ellis.

Menzel and Ellis will perform the Number One duet "I Know Him So Well" sung originally in 1984 to high acclaim by Elaine Paige and Barbara Dickinson. The two Wicked stars play love rivals in the eagerly anticipated production which tells the story of two World Chess Championship players, caught in a love triangle with the woman who falls in love with one and manages the other.

This celebratory performance combines some of the biggest names from the West End and Broadway. Produced by original author and West End heavyweight Tim Rice, the London show will play for two nights from 12th to 13th May. The City of London Philharmonic Orchestra provide the soundtrack with musical input from ABBA's Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson.
