Nobody Puts Baby In A... Fruit Shop?

dirty dancing

National Watermelon Day, whilst certainly a strange celebration, will be held in the UK on Monday August 4th and the West End show Dirty Dancing which furthers the cause of the seeded fruit during the performance, will be marking the day in style.

The only West End show to make a reference to the beloved and juicy melon, Dirty Dancing makes a star of the fruit with every show. When Frances 'Baby' Houseman meets Johnny Castle at a dance party she is carrying a melon and awkwardly delivers the famed reference: "I carried a watermelon."

In keeping with the theme of the show and to herald the arrival of the long overdue national celebration of the fruit, Dirty Dancing will be awarding a free pair of top tickets to the first 20 people to carry a watermelon to the Aldwych theatre at 10:00 on National Watermelon Day, August 4th. The tickets will be for the evening performance on the fruit's national day.

Dirty Dancing whisks you back in time to the summer of 1963. Follow teenager Frances 'Baby' Houseman on her family holiday at Kellerman's holiday camp. Sit back and enjoy the romance as she falls in love with the streetwise dance teacher from the wrong side of the tracks. Eleanor Bergstein decided on the music for the film before she wrote the story and the music of the blockbuster film has been re-mastered for this uplifting West End producion.

For some amazing low prices on a Dirty Dancing theatre break, book your tickets with Show and Stay today and watch the watermelon and the rest of a wonderful cast in this much celebrated West End production.
