Walk to the West End in a Week

Published on 1 March 2010 by Sam Ingleston

Two girls, seven days, 112 miles.

Sally Staff and Becky Marsden Walk to the West End

Some would say crazy, others would say an inspiration but one thing's for sure, the challenge in front of Sally Staff and Becky Marsden (pictured) is easier said than done.

The theatre-loving pair aim to raise money for the Mercury Phoenix Trust by walking from the Birmingham Hippodrome, to the Dominion Theatre in London's West End, home of Queen musical We Will Rock You. The route is 112 miles long, and they plan to walk 16 miles a day for seven days.

The Mercury Phoenix Trust was set up after the Aids-related death of Queen frontman Freddie Mercury, and raises money and awareness of Aids and HIV.

Becky, 23, and Sally, 26, have set themselves a fund-raising goal of £2000 which they aim to meet by 17 September 2010 when they begin their journey.
