Theatregoers Have Chosen
25,000 theatre fans voted to name their winners for the Whatsonstage.com Theatregoers' Choice Awards and brand new West End musical Hairspray swept the board!
Already a record breaker, having received the most Laurence Olivier Award nominations in one year, Hairspray dominated the Theatregoers' Choice Awards winning a staggering seven accolades including Best New Musical and Best Choreographer. Only missing out on three of the ten nominations the hit London show dominated the winners list, with Leanne Jones, Ben-James Ellis, Michael Ball and Tracie Bennett all taking awards in the performance categories.
The award ceremony is to be held on Sunday 24th February at the Lyric Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue the current home of musical Cabaret. The stars of the stage will have the opportunity to receive their awards in front of a live audience as well as enjoy the evening's festivities.<,/p>
