Sweet Charity A Success

Matthew White's version of Sweet Charity at the Menier Chocolate Factory pleases critics.
Starring Tamzin Outhwaite, the classic musical Sweet Charity opened in the capital last night to positive notices from the press. Due to play over the Christmas period, producers hope that director Matthew White will repeat the success he had three years ago with his much-acclaimed version of Little Shop of Horrors.
The Stage said: "White stages this musical theatre classic with pace and flair, delicately balancing its humour and pathos."
Discussing Tamzin Outhwaite's lead performance, they wrote: "She acts, sings and dances her heart out to a high standard."
WhatsOnStage were similarly impressed with the production, saying: "Sweet Charity at the Menier Chocolate Factory is an absolute humdinger, the best musical theatre revival of the year by several Manhattan blocks."
Set in New York City, Sweet Charity centres around the misadventures of naive dancer Charity Hope Valentine. A warming comedy, Sweet Charity will play at the Menier Chocolate Factory until 7 March, 2010.
