Sunset Boulevard To Rise Again In West End
A new production of Sunset Boulevard, one of Andrew Lloyd Webber's best loved musical productions, will be coming to the West End next month.
This new production has recently enjoyed a sell-out season at Newbury's The Watermill Theatre and will now transfer to London's The Comedy Theatre, opening on 15 December.
Sunset Boulevard originally premiered in London at the Adelphi Theatre, currently home to another successful Andrew Lloyd Webber production, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. After it premiered in 1993, Sunset Boulevard ran for nearly four years and was seen by over two million people.
Previous transfers from the Watermill have gone on to become great successes, John Doyle's Sweeney Todd transferred from the intimate theatre and went on to become a multi-award winning theatre-goers favourite. Sweeney Todd's musical arranger, Sarah Travis, is to take on the same role for Sunset Boulevard.
The show will be directed and choreographed by Strictly Come Dancing meanie, Craig Revel Howood and designed by Diego Pitarch. Sound will be handled by Gary Dixon and lighting by Richard G. Jones.
Kathryn Evans will be tackling the challenging role of 'Norma Desmond', Dave Willetts will perform as 'Max Von Meyerling' and Ben Goddard will take on the role of 'Joe Gillis'. The cast will be completed by Helen Power, Laura Pitt-Pulford, Tarek Merchant, Nick Lashbrook, Sam Kenyon, Kate Feldschreibe, Alexander Evans, Tomm Coles and Elisa Boyd.
Sunset Boulvard opens at the Comedy Theatre on Monday 15 December
