Shawshank Coming To The West End

Owen O'Neill and Dave Johns' stage adaptation of The Shawshank Redemption is coming to London's West End.
Following a sell out season at the Gaiety Dublin, the play is opening at Wyndham's Theatre in September. Considering the success of recent screen-to-stage adaptations such as Rain Man and Calendar Girls, the production is sure to get a warm welcome when it opens in the West End.
Based on Stephen King's Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption, the production features a cast of 20 led by Kevin Anderson and The Wire's Reg E Cathey. Peter Sheridan, co-founder of the Project Theatre Company, is to direct.
A moving story of hope, friendship and courage, The Shawshank Redemption has been translated into 33 languages and inspired an award-winning film in 1994.
The Shawshank Redemption will open at Wyndham's Theatre on 13 September running until 14 February, 2010.
