Richard Dreyfuss To Star In Complicit
Jaws Star, Richard Dreyfuss, is to return to the West End four years after he was controversially fired from the musical, The Producers.
The Hollywood Star has been persuaded to give treading the boards another try by Kevin Spacey, who is currently the Old Vic Theatre's artistic director. Dreyfuss is to star in the popular venue's new play, Complicit, an incisive exploration of the world's current political climate.
Dreyfuss's most recent film role saw him playing US vice president Dick Cheney in Oliver Stone's W., a biopic tracing key events in the life of unpopular US president George W. Bush. Dreyfuss's performance was praised by critics with some describing the star as; "not so much a double as an embodiment of Dick Cheney".
Commenting on his return to the West End stage Dreyfuss light-heartedly joked; "Im very excited to have a chance of not being fired before the opening".
Complicit opens at London's Old Vic Theatre on 7 January and will run until 21 February, 2009 with press night on 22 January.
