Blood Brothers gets Spice-C

Published on 9 September 2009 by Shanni Elcock

Former Spice Girl Mel C, also known as Sporty Spice, is set to make her West End debut in the long-running musical, Blood Brothers London, this autumn.

 Melanie Chisolm aka Mel C

Mel C whose real name is Melanie Chisholm, will take over the role of Mrs Johnstone in Blood Brothers London on 26 October 2009.

The sportiest Spice is the first of the popular 90s girl group, the Spice Girls, to be cast in a West End musical. She is, however, not the first girl group singer to be cast in the West End and follows in the footsteps of Destiny's Child singer, Michelle Williams. Williams is currently appearing in Chicago as Roxie Hart until 12 September.

The current production of Blood Brothers London will celebrate its 21st birthday this year and is directed by Bob Thomson and Bill Kenwright.

The Spice Girls had many hits including Wannabe, Stop and Spice Up Your Life and were the most successful girl group of all time. The group, which consisted of Melanie Brown, Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell, Victoria Beckham and Melanie Chisholm, split late in 2000.

To see Mel perform her first West End role, book a Blood Brothers ticket and hotel package with Show and Stay.
