Marguerite now open in West End

Marguerite

Fans of the massively popular Les Misérables will be delighted to hear that lyricist Herbert Kretzmer and creative dream team Claude-Michel Shönberg and Alain Boublil have collaborated once again.

The result of this exciting trinity is the all new West End musical extravaganza Marguerite, currently showing at the Theatre Royal Haymarket. An update of the classic love story La Dame aux Camélias, set in occupied France, the show focusses on Marguerite, the enchanting but notorious mistress of a high ranking Nazi officer. Marguerite's life is thrown into turmoil when a young musician involved in the French resistance falls obsessively in love with her.

Three time Oscar winning musical visionary, Michel Legrand has worked tirelessly with Herbert Kretzmer to create songs which take the audience on a remarkable journey, pitching and soaring through the entire range of human emotion. Delightfully upbeat songs effortlessly give way to heartbreaking melodies to create a moving and truly impressive musical.

The title role is played by the talented Ruthie Henshall, who has recently returned to the UK after a stint on Broadway. Having appeared in several high profile musicals including Chicago, Oliver! and Les Misérables, Henshall's theatrical talent is unmistakable. Audiences have been spellbound by her performance with the Sunday Telegraph labelling her "A revelation as Marguerite." Alongside Ms. Henshall are The Sound of Music's Alexander Hanson as Otto and Julian Ovenden (described by The Independent as "ridiculously talented and handsome") as Armand.

With the national press reviewing the show so favourably and an enviable cast and production team it is looking likely that Marguerite will be the talk of the West End this summer. Book early to avoid disappointment.
