Mamma Mia! Sparks ABBA Revival

Mamma Mia

ABBA's greatest hits album - ABBA Gold, is rapidly rising up the UK album charts. A resurgence of interest in the eternally popular Swedish eurovision winners has led to the 15-year-old album climbing to number two on BBC Radio 1's album chart.

The revival of interest in the flare-loving quartet is, in part, due to the release of the film adaptation of Mamma Mia! This recent Hollywood adaptation is also doing it's bit to increase the already considerable interest in the West End show. Since it opened in 1999 the original stage production of Mamma Mia! has been seen by over 30 million people and has grossed over £1 billion.

The phenomenal popularity of the ABBA jukebox musical has led to the show being performed in eleven languages in over thirty countries. This awe-inspiring popularity can only increase as the Mamma Mia! film creates legions of ABBA converts and reminds old fans just how much they love the Swede pop sensations.

I doubt that it will take these new fans long to realise as impressive as Pierce Brosnan and Meryl Streep are, there's nothing quite like a stage show.
