Laurence Olivier Award Nominations

Comedy and Tragedy Masks

The prestigious Laurence Olivier Awards are being announced tonight, we will soon find out which actors, directors, productions and creatives are most worthy of receiving the highest accolades at the 2008 Laurence Olivier Awards.

Established in 1976 and previously known as The Society of West End Theatre Awards, The Laurence Olivier Awards are recognised as the UK's most respected theatre awards and the highlight of the theatrical year. The awards are presented annually by The Society of London Theatre and celebrate excellence in the field of performance, direction, design, playwriting and composition in West End theatre.

Rumours have been flying around about the nominees, but we reckon the show's (production, cast and crew) to watch out for are Macbeth, That Face, War Horse; and last years musical openings of Hairspray, The Lord of the Rings, Rent, Fiddler on the Roof and The Drowsy Chaperone.

The winners of the 2008 Laurence Olivier Awards will be announced at a lavish ceremony at Grosvenor House on the 9th March.
