Kylie Minogue Musical?
Kylie Minogue has reportedly set her sights on the West End. The ex-neighbours actress turned multi award-winning singer-songwriter is apparently working on a jukebox musical based around some of her greatest hits.
According to early reports, Minogue is working with author and personal friend Kathy Lette to create the new show. Lette is perhaps best known for her 1996 novel Mad Cows, which was made into a film starring Joanna Lumley.
Minogue's X-factor judge sister, Dannii, is also said to be on board with the project. Kylie Minogue's highly successful singing career began in 1988 and is still going strong. Her early hits such as 'Locomotion' have become cult classics and her more recent offerings such as '2 Hearts' rarely fail to make a significant impact on the singles charts.
Minogue is the third best selling female recording artist in the UK, behind only Whitney Houston and Madonna. Her huge popularity and varied, upbeat back-catalogue certainly have the potential to make a popular West End musical. Similar jukebox musicals such as Mamma Mia! The Musical and We Will Rock You London have enjoyed phenomenal box office figures and have quickly developed a strong fan-base in theatreland.
