Kenwright Honoured At TMAs
Theatre luminary, Bill Kenwright, has been honoured with the Theatre Management Association's Special Award for Individual Achievement.
Kenwright has staged over 500 productions in his 40-year-career including the 2006 revival of Cabaret, The Glass Menagerie and of course, Blood Brothers. Kenwright took over production of Blood Brothers in 1987 and with his help it has become a true West End staple and a touring powerhouse.
TMA president, Derek Nicholls, praised Kenwright's contribution to touring theatre; With constant tours the length and breadth of the UK, from Aberdeen to Plymouth, from Belfast to Bromley, the recipient of our award has gone on to become unquestionably the most prolific producer, having more than 500 productions to his credit, among those indestructible cornerstones of UK touring - Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat and Blood Brothers. His energy, tenacity and unstoppableness make him the greatest contributor to regional theatre of our time, and possibly and probably forever.
Recently, Kenwright has appeared as a judge on BBC's Any Dream Will Do and produced Fur Coat and No Knickers starring Harold Pinter.
