Lee Mead Heads up Joseph Cast for Another Three Months

Joseph

Any Dream Will Do star Lee Mead has confirmed that he will continue to play the lead in Joseph until 10 January 2009.

With the BBC well underway with I'd Do Anything, it's easy to forget that it was only eight months ago that Southend lad Lee Mead won the chance to appear in Joseph at the Adelphi thanks to their last foray into the world of musical theatre, Any Dream Will Do. Since that time Lee has established himself as one of the most bankable stars in the West End. Picking up awards and nominations for best actor and best newcomer all over the place, Lee, very quickly, has made himself very popular with West End audiences and critics alike.

It certainly feels quite natural that he should sign up for this extension now. Lee has recently dabbled with a few side projects like lending his silky vocals to the new Mackenzie Crook film Three and Out, so this latest decision feels like he's just re-affirming where his priorities lie.

Boasting such hits as Close Every Door to Me, Any Dream Will Do and Joseph's Coat (of Many Colours), the latest version of Joseph at the Adelphi has attracted some pretty fantastic reviews since it opened last summer. And, with audience numbers showing no sign of slowing down, extending the run with the nation's favourite Joseph seems like a very easy decision to make.
