Menzel and Groban tread the Chess boards

Idina Menzel will follow her West End debut in Wicked with a fantastic role in the new Chess In Concert production set to hit the Royal Albert Hall in May 2008. The show will be performed on 12th and 13th May and will also see singing sensation Josh Groban join Menzel on stage.

Idina Menzel first graced the West End stage in Wicked as the witch Elphaba, reprising the role she originally performed on Broadway. She has also starred in other Broadway shows including Rent and Wild Party before releasing her much-anticipated solo album 'I Stand'.

Josh Groban is the US record-breaking singer, most famous for his often-imitated hit-single You Raise Me Up. Groban will join the cast of Chess the Concert after his Christmas album 'Nöel' became 2007's biggest selling album in the USA.

The brand new Chess In Concert will be a reworking of the original show by Tim Rice and Abba's Björn and Benny that premiered in the West End in 1986. With the classic numbers I Know Him So Well and One Night in Bangkok, the show is set to wow a new generation of audiences with its streamlined story and extensive orchestra.
