From Africa to Oz

Lion King

Alexia Khadime is leaving the plains of Africa and heading into the Land of Oz, swapping lions for witches and golden face paint for green. That's right, the talented Khadime is leaving her role as Nala in Disney's West End production of The Lion King to play Elphaba (the Wicked Witch of the West) in Wicked!

Khadime is the first black actress to play the role of the green-skinned witch in this hit musical and will take over from the award winning Kerry Ellis (Ellis is set to dazzle Broadway with her performance of Elphaba before returning to the West End production on the 1st December 08).

Wicked

Khadime joined The Lion King pride in 2001 aged 17, after a break she returned to the show in May 2005 to star as Nala and has been playing the role ever since. Her other stage credits include Whistle Down the Wind and Leader of the Pack on tour and Cinderella The Musical at the Hackney Empire.

Book your Wicked Theatre Break between the 9th June and 29th November 2008 to catch Alexia Khadmie in action.
