Old Favourites Re-join Chicago Line up for Steamy Summer Cast

Chicago

The long running West End musical Chicago has announced it's summer cast, and there's more than just a few familiar names amongst the changes.

As expected, ex Hearsay bopper Suzanne Shaw is set to take over from Sarah Soetaert from early June as the dangerous Roxie Hart. She will be reprising her role in all evening performances except for Fridays. Anna Jane Casey will step back into the role of the vampish Velma Kelly and Victor McGuire will play the vicious Amos Hart. Sue Kelvin will follow suite, reprising her role as Mamma Morton in the long-running musical. All changes are scheduled to commence from 2nd June. Terence Maynard is set to continue as the lawyer Billy Flynn and help usher in the newly returning cast.

Chicago is one of the West End's longest running musicals and has been playing in the capital, in one venue or another, for nearly 11 years. First at the Adelphi and then, for the past two years, at the Cambridge Theatre near Seven Dials, This steamy musical is a Jazz tinged romp through the smokey underbelly of Prohibition era Chicago. Sex and showgirls form the bases of Bob Fosse's narrative as the action flits between gin-soaked speakeasies and the cold cells of county jail. Made into an Oscar winning film in 2002, Chicago is an experience that is definitely not to be missed.
