Chicago Cast Change

Chicago

As from 25th February, there will be major cast changes behind the scenes of Chicago. The Musical welcomes Birgitte Hjort Sorensen who will be starring as Roxie Hart for a couple of months until 27th April this year. Birgitte is no stranger to the hit musical, she starred as the same character in the Copenhagen production of the show. The star has also appeared in Danish productions of Cabaret and The Winter's Tale.

Similarly, Rachel McDowall will be joining the cast as Velma Kelly until 25th May 2008, hoping to continue the success of her previous role as Ulla in the West End's rendition of The Producers. McDowall will also be seen playing the role of Lisa in the film re-make of Mamma Mia.

Zee Asha will be temporarily playing the part of Mama Morton until the end of March, when Claudia Shear will take over the part.

The Changes come just before the two year anniversary of the Cambridge Theatre's showing of Chicago. The theatre was the original home of the hit musical when it first opened in 1979 and eventually showed over 600 times. Chicago tells the story of Roxie who has murdered her lover but gets acquitted with the help of a sleazy lawyer.
