A New Impression for Cabaret
On April 21st comedian and impressionist Alistair McGowan will join the cast of Cabaret replacing Julian Clary as Emcee.
Best known for his impressions of such stars as David Beckam, Gary Linekar and Sven Goran Erikkson in his BAFTA Award winning The Big Impression, McGowan has recently built up quite a theatre history. He has had roles in the RSC production of Merry Wives: The Musical along with The Little Shop of Horrors, and The Mikado at the Gielgud earlier this year in the title role.
Cabaret opened in the West End in October 2006 to excellent reviews from the press and proved to be a huge hit with theatre audiences. The musical won the 2007 Olivier Award for Best Choreography and Best Performance in a Supporting Role for Sheila Hancock.
Set in a dark and sexually charged - this show is not suitable for audiences under 12 - pre-war Berlin, Cabaret wonderfully portrays the decadent haven of the Kit Kat Klub and it's singer Sally Bowles. The musical follows the morally questionably patrons of the night club as they attempt to create a world of their own away from the realities of the rise of the Nazi's and the impending war.
A masterpiece of a show, Cabaret is available to book for a low price today with Show and Stay.
