Bond comes to Imperial War Museum
On the 17th April 2008, the Imperial War Museum will launch the new James Bond exhibition for all to see. The exhibition coincides with both filming of the new Bond movie, Quantum of Solace and the centenary of Ian Fleming's birth.
Quantum of Solace is the 22nd bond movie to be released and will see the secret agent jetting off to the sunnier climates of Bolivia and Haiti in pursuit of a double crossing ex-lover. The film is Daniel Craig's second appearance as Bond and is eagerly awaited by fans all over the world.
Casino Royale marked Craig's first appearance and subsequently broke all box office records for a Bond film to date. The series was the highest grossing film franchise until
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix was released in 2007. The two British films will go head to head in the winter of this year.
Many of you would recognise Fleming's protagonist as commander James Bond, an agent for the British Secret Intelligence Service, more commonly known as MI6. The Imperial War Museum, however, are planning on opening our eyes to the story behind the character, and what inspired Fleming to write his stories. The exhibition will examine the extent to which the books and films mirror the reality of the Cold War and post war Britain, and how much they were a product of Fleming's own creative mind.
The attraction features a lot of material, most of which has never been on display before. Items include a selection of annotated Bond manuscripts, various material from the films and the Colt Python .357 Magnum revolver which was presented to Fleming in 1964 by the Colt company.
The James Bond Exhibition is likely to wow even the hardcore fans of the films and books and what better way to celebrate the release of the 22nd Bond film than to take a trip to the Imperial War Museum. Keep an eye on Show and Stay for more up-to-date news as it happens.
"Excellent. Just the thing for unwinding after a rough day at the office."
