Blood Brothers Extends

Blood Brothers

Willy Russell's hugely successful Blood Brothers is extending its booking period for another six months into May 2009.

The musical, which is currently showing at the Phoenix Theatre, has enjoyed a successful run to rave reviews since re-opening in 1988 at the Albery Theatre. The Mail on Sunday said the show was "Gripping, Gritty and superbly hummable" whilst the News of the World dubbed the show "A Masterpiece."

Blood Brothers was given a second chance after failing to impress when it first opened to the public in 1985. The West End musical flopped when it premiered at the Lyric Theatre but soon proved a massive success when it reopened three years later. It is now 20 years since Blood Brothers re-opened and producers haven't looked back since.

Blood Brothers tells the story of twins separated at birth whose paths cross again later in life in a mix of friendship and anger. A true nature vs nurture debate, Blood Brothers examines how the two different class backgrounds create two very different young men.
