Abi Titmuss's run in Macbeth at the Seagull Theatre begins next month.
Former glamour model Abi Titmuss (pictured) has long expressed her desire to become an actress. However, her casting as Lady Macbeth in the Seagull's modern-dress production of Shakespeare's classic might just prove to be her hardest test yet. Based in Lowestoft, Abi's stint at the Seagull is set to precede a local tour.
Speaking to The Stage, John Hales, artistic director of the Seagull, said: “We’re delighted to have Abi on board for this production. She’s always been a huge fan of theatre and is really making a stand for the smaller theatres across the country by playing Lady Macbeth at the Seagull and on tour. The publicity will be great for us as we rebuild the theatre but more importantly, we’re lucky to have such a dedicated, talented, powerful and classy actress working with us."
Hales went on to say: "In all respects Abi is perfect casting. She’s bringing power and sensuality but also genuine depth to the role. I’m certain she is going to surprise and impress everyone.”
Speaking to Lowestoft's The Journal, Abi had this to say about the new twist in her career: "It’s been a real challenge taking on such a wide variety of parts and I have been working very hard as I’m determined to become known as an actress and not just for being famous."
Macbeth runs at the Seagull from 18 to 22 November before embarking on a tour of East Anglia, playing at venues including The Cut and The Fisher Theatre before moving to Norwich where it plays until December 4, 2009.
