The Railway Children theatre breaks

Show synopsis

The jaw-dropping stage adaptation of E Nesbit's children's classic, The Railway Children, is coming back to London for a limited season in 2011.

Staged in the old Eurostar terminal at Waterloo Station, The Railway Children benefits from one of the most atmospheric auditoriums in London. The audience are seated on either side of the track with the action taking place on both platforms and the tracks themselves. A genuine, working steam train even makes an appearance.

The story of The Railway Children follows Bobby, Peter, and Phylis as they struggle to understand why their father was taken away so mysteriously. Their mother moves them to rural Yorkshire and there they befriend a local railway porter and embark on a remarkable journey of discovery.

The Railway Children reviews

Show and Stay review

Seeing The Railway Children at Waterloo Station is the best thing you’ll do all year

There is no denying that the most exciting thing about The Railway Children is when The Green Dragon locomotive pulls in between the two platforms – it really is an overwhelming experience to have a steam train pull into a theatre and stop right in front of you. » Read the full review
