The History of The St Martin's Theatre

St Martin's Theatre opened in 1916. St Martin's remains one of the few theatres in London to be privately owned. The Willoughby de Broke family have owned St Martin's since it was first built. The theatre has a history of successful plays. St Martin's was the venue for the premier of JB Priestly's When We Are Married. The theatre is now most famous as the home of Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap which opened at St Martin's on 25th March 1974 and has been running ever since. In the main foyer there is a sign which gives the exact number of the performance you are about to see.
