When a glamourous disco diva called Deloris Van Cartier witnesses a murder she is placed under witness protection in the one place the police are certain she won't be found - a convent.
Disguised as a nun, Deloris suffers a severe culture shock. Convent life is tough, rigid and not at all like the glitz and glamour she is used to. Deloris quickly finds herself at odds with the stern Mother Superior and living amongst her new-found sisters seems tougher than ever.
Eventually, Deloris finds an outlet; using her unique disco moves and singing talent to inspire the convent's choir she breaths new life into the church and community. Unfortunately, her good work does not go unnoticed, her cover is blown and the criminal gang give chase. What they don't bargain for is Deloris' bravery and the power of her friendship with her new 'sisters'.
