Self obsessed car dealer Charlie Babbit (Josh Hartnett) is notified that his estranged father has passed away. In the will, Charlie finds that he is set to inherit a 1948 Buick convertible and a huge bed of roses but that the remainder of his father's $3 million fortune is to go into a trust fund for someone called Raymond Babbit (Adam Godley). Raymond, it turns out, is Charlie's older brother.
Severely autistic, Raymond lives under constant observation at the Walbrook Institute. Desperate to get his hands on the money, Charlie kidnaps Raymond and takes him on a road trip across America. As their trip progresses however, Charlie learns more and more about Raymond, his condition and ultimately, his own childhood.
A haunting and essentially uplifting story of self-discovery, Rain Man is as vital and relevant today as it has ever been. Delicately updated to the present, the true heart of the Rain Man story is completely timeless and centres around the redemptive power of love, charity and friendship. A beautiful piece of writing, Rain Man at the Apollo theatre is an experience not to be missed.
Due to the adult nature of the show the theatre advise that it is unsuitable for children under 12 years of age. Children under 5 years old will not be permitted into the auditorium.
