Theatre Architecture

The Architecture of The Prince of Wales Theatre

The foyer of the old Prince's theatre was designed with a Moorish flavour. The three-tier auditorium was decorated in shades of white, cream and gold. Contrasting with stronger earth colours for the curtains and the upholstery. However, 800 seats was deemed insufficient for the productions of the day and it was demolished. The current theatre was designed by Robert Crombie and the foundation stone was laid on June 17th 137 by Gracie Fields.
