Theatre Architecture

The Architecture of The Prince Edward Theatre

The theatre was designed by Edward A. Stone to accommodate large, extravagant musical shows and occasional film shows. The formal Italianate style of the Prince Edward Theatre's exterior conceals a welcoming and colourful interior.

The Deco interior was designed by Marc-Henri Levy and Gaston Laverdet. Entering through arched doorways the audience find a spectacular circular foyer with staircases leading off to the stalls and dress circle. The beautiful proscenium arch features a series of alcoves with amber glass covers and imitation fountains on each side designed by René Lalique.
