Playhouse Theatre

The Playhouse Theatre opened as the Royal Avenue theatre in 1882 but was nearly destroyed when part of the Charing Cross Station building crashed into it, it subsequently re-opened as the Playhouse Theatre. It has held many a famous stage debut including george Bernard Shaw's first play and the debut of Alec Guiness in Libel.
