The Piccadilly Theatre was opened in 1928 with a production of Blue Eyes and it was boasted that "if all the bricks used in the building were laid in a straight line, they would stretch from London to Paris." and was the site for the showing of the second Al Jolson film The Singing Fool which was the first talkie shown in Britain.
