Whoopi Goldberg is to return to the London production of Sister Act for five performances.
Goldberg’s run was cut short earlier this month following the sudden death of her mother. However, producers have confirmed that the multi-award-winning Hollywood megastar will return to the West End for five performances. The first will be on Friday 22 October followed by two performances on 23 October and two more on 25 October.
Chief executive of Stage Entertainment, Sister Act’s producers, spoke to the Evening Standard about Whoopi’s return, saying: “Everyone knows what a special person Whoopi is but that she is committed to returning and completing her run at the London Palladium leaves me speechless in admiration.”
Sally Dexter will continue to play Mother Superior after Whoopi’s departure on 25 October until the show ends its run on 30 October, where it makes way for The Wizard of Oz musical.
