Laters, Whoopster.
Sally Dexter will take over as Mother Superior when Whoopi Goldberg leaves Sister Act the Musical at the end of this month.
Speaking on WestEnders on BBC Radio Humberside, the actress said: “It’s just amazing. It’s such a fantastic show, the film was fabulous, and they’ve done such a good job of it.
“The show finishes at the end of October, so it’s just for the last two months I’m swooping in.”
Sally is known for her role as Nancy in Sam Mendes’ 1994 revival of Oliver! for which she received an Olivier nomination, and she more recently starred in Billy Elliot as Mrs Wilkinson.
She also appears on the Love Never Dies soundtrack as Madame Giry, and appeared in Bad Girls: The Musical at the Garrick Theatre.
Sally Dexter will take over as Mother Superior on September 2, 2010 and remain in the role until October 30 when the show closes at the London Palladium to make room for The Wizard of Oz.
Sister Act theatre breaks are available now.
