Amanda Holden To Star In Shrek The Musical

Amanda Holden and Richard Blackwood will star in the forthcoming production of Shrek the Musical.
Amanda Holden, perhaps best-known for being a judge on Britain’s Got Talent, will play the lead female role of Princess Fiona.
Although Holden may be a surprise casting for many, Amanda is no stranger to the stage and actually started her acting from the early age of nine. She has also been nominated for several awards for her performance in the West End production of Thoroughly Modern Millie.
Richard Blackwood and Amanda Holden will star in the upcoming show Shrek The Musical with Nigel Lindsay and Nigel Harman in line to play Shrek and Lord Farquaard respectively.
Radio presenter and media personality Richard Blackwood will play the role of Shrek’s loveable sidekick, Donkey – voiced by Eddie Murphy in the Shrek movies. Blackwood returns to the stage having recently enjoyed a run in the West End production of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.
English actor Nigel Lindsay, is the favourite to play the leading role of Shrek, but does he have what it takes to play the grumpy green ogre that everyone loves? A talented actor, Lindsay certainly has a wealth of onstage experience, and has starred in shows such as Guys and Dolls at the Piccadilly Theatre in 2005.
Ex-soapstar Nigel Harman is rumoured to be playing the comically short and ruthless ruler Lord Farquaad. Having seen his rather fiery side when he played Dennis Rickman in EastEnders, I am sure he will have the ability to play this character.
Shrek the Musical started in America in December 2008. It didn’t do as well as hoped, so after they revamped it and showed it in Chicago where it received a much better response, they decided to bring it to the West End.
The stage adaptation of the much-loved Oscar-winning family film Shrek will preview from May 2011 and open on 7 June 2011 at Theatre Royal Drury Lane where it will replace Oliver!

Love amanda holden, but WHY??? Yet again taking a part sutton so beautifully originated and no doubt will ruin it :( RIP Shrek <3 x
