Danielle to do a Degree After Dorothy

Danielle Hope has expressed her wish to go back to education once her time as Dorothy has finished.

The 18-year-old told The Stage that she wants to study a for a degree in musical theatre after finishing her time in The Wizard of Oz. The winner of Over The Rainbow is due to begin her role at the London Palladium next April.

Although being in a reality show is intensive, I’m not sure if it can give a performer enough training and experience to be able to handle the pressure of a live West End stage seven or eight times a week.

It seems that Danielle believes she still has much more to learn, telling The Stage: “There is nothing I want more than to get my degree in musical theatre… I don’t think you can ever have enough training and it makes you really employable.” Bravo Danielle. We knew there were lots of reasons why we liked you.

If you are going to take any career seriously, then you should study, train and work hard for it. There are plenty of actors and actresses out there who have had the necessary training. Wicked the musical star Kerry Ellis attended the acclaimed Laine Theatre Arts School, as did Love Never Dies star Summer Strallen. Sheila Hancock studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and James McAvoy was a pupil at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. And the Sylvia Young Theatre School has moulded a handful of West End stars including Denise Van Outen and Tamzin Outwaithe.

There are a few who rush into the industry far too quickly without the background knowledge and training, but it seems Danielle has the right idea.
