Harry Potter The Musical – I Demand A UK Tour
Tuesday 30th June, 11.51am
Before I dive headfirst into this blog, allow me to make something abundantly clear. I love the Harry Potter books and, to a lesser extent, I love the Harry Potter films.
I wrote half my dissertation on Harry Potter, I possess one Potter hoody, two t-shirts, a Durmstrang knapsack and a shelf in my house is dedicated to Potter prop replicas.
I say all this because I suspect I may be ever so slightly biased in my opinion that the following clips of HP The Musical the as yet unnamed wizard-based musical are 23 different kinds of awesome. I won’t try and sway you either way, I’ll just go straight to the video.
UPDATE So, it turns out that merely mentioning the musical which must not be named might be enough to get the team behind it in some kind of legal difficulty. I’ve replaced the original video with an announcement and done some minor “corrections” to this blog.
The musical was apparently written earlier this year by a group of American students and recent graduates though a non-profit theatre company. It was performed just five times over three days (I demand a UK tour!)
The songs were written by the chap who plays Harry (Darren Criss) and AJ Holmes who played piano in the show’s band. The script was written (or should I say “adapted for the stage” by Matt Lang (who also directed), Nick Lang and Brian Holden; all of whom should get Tony awards!
Ok, maybe not Tony awards but if nothing else, a mighty big pat on the back from the theatre community. An original and funny take on the Potter non-specific magical universe, catchy songs and the hilarious flue powder part made this a pleasure to watch on YouTube. I can only imagine how funny it must have been live.
One more thing, just to really demonstrate my fanboydom, behold the shelf of wonders!

My shelf of shame/awesome

Although they might appreciate that you enjoy it, I don’t think they would appreciate you posting something about it on a blog that I easily found on google. They recently took their videos down because they don’t wanna be sued, and they even mentioned in their latest video to keep quiet about the play, so if I were you, I’d delete this post or make it private asap.

I am waiting for the official harry potter musical that is being made. I searched harry potter musical on you tube and saw the one u speak of. I hated it. It was not filmed well. Half the time you cant hear what the actors lines are due to the bad sound. I will just wait to see or hear the songs from the professional Harry Potter musical!
