Boylewatch II

It’s time to catch up with the best thing to come out of Scotland since shortbread, the fuzzy-haired seraphim, Susan Boyle.
First things first, she’s still an internet sensation. So much so that MTV’s jester, Ashton Kutcher used Twitter to send a YouTube link of Boyle’s performance to his wife, Demi Moore, along with the message “This just made my night”. Oprah, Jay Leno and Elaine Page have all also reportedly been in contact with the new-found star.
In perhaps the most exciting development of the Susan Boyle saga, Oprah Winfrey, the undisputed queen of daytime television, has invited the singer to perform on her show. The invitation has led Simon Cowell to predict a number one album for Boyle in the US.
This is not as unlikely as some of you may think, I’m told whatever Oprah selects for her book club pretty much instantly leaps to the top of the best-seller list. If that rule applies to music, I suppose Ms Boyle has America pretty much cracked so long as she puts in a decent performance on the show.
With all this media attention I think it’s fair to say even if she doesn’t win (and let’s be honest, that little lad who sung Michael Jackson is a pretty distant second) she’s essentially set up to sing professionally one way or another. Even if Oprah loses interest, Elaine Page, sweetheart of the West End, has said she would consider singing a duet with Boyle.
In other Boyle-related news, a recording of her rendition of Cry Me A River dating from the 1990s has surfaced online (see below) and as you might imagine, it’s just lovely. Rumours suggest that Boyle’s next performance on Britain’s Got Talent will be something from Whistle Down The Wind, exciting stuff!
Until next time ladies and gents, toodle pip!

Susan Boyle may not be a very good looking woman but she has an angelic voice. ,
