Travesties Theatre Tickets and Hotel Packages

A much-anticipated revival of one of Tom Stoppard’s most beloved post-absurdist comedies, Travesties is a deliciously farcical homage to Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest following the meandering recollections of British consular official Henry Carr as he bumbles amongst the great and the good of Great War Zurich.

Encountering such contemporary luminaries such as founder of dadaism Tristan Zara, James Joyce (lost in the convolutions of creating Ulysses) and Lenin, as well as much of the cast of Earnest itself, Carr is the perfect straight man lost down the ridiculous rabbit hole of Stoppard’s imagination. Since its first production in 1974 Travesties has delighted, confounded and amused theatregoers in equal part.

Directed by Patrick Marber, as Travesties transfers from the Chocolate Factory to the West End it features the same fabulous cast as before - Tom Hollander (Pirates of the Caribbean, About Time) as Henry Carr, Freddie Fox (Pride, The Riot Club) as Tristan Tzara and Amy Morgan as Gwendolen.
