The Architecture of The Hammersmith Apollo Theatre

Art Deco in design the Hammersmith Apollo was created by Robert Cromie who was a major player in cinema design, creating a number of the top entertainment venues in London in the early 1930's. The large auditorium at the Hammersmith Apollo can hold up to 5000 people and seat over 3600, which allows the building to host large scale productions and concerts.

The 63 foot proscenium arch stage is easily adaptable for concerts and musicals and surprisingly still has a number of its original features, including a Compton Pipe Organ dating back to 1932. The Hammersmith Apollo became a Grade II listed building in 1990.
