Gielgud Theatre

The Gielgud Theatre opened in 1906 as The Hicks Theatre and became The Globe in 1909. It was designed as a pair with the Queens Theatre which sits on the corner of the adjacent street. It was re-named the Gielgud to avoid confusion with the Shakespeare's Globe Theatre.
