Theatre History

The History of The Cambridge Theatre

The Cambridge Theatre has had a very checkered past, and through the years has been home to ice dancing, a cinema, trade filming, an opera company, as well as theatrical productions.

The beautiful auditorium has been host to a number of respected and well known theatrical figures, including Lawrence Olivier, Bruce Forsyth and Tommy Steele. Not to mention a number of productions ranging from Shakespeare's The Tempest to the controversial Jerry Springer - The Opera.

The Cambridge theatre has been associated with short runs and dark periods, during which the theatre was used for filming and later as a cinema.
