Theatre Architecture

The Architecture of The Cambridge

Modern and built of steel and concrete, the Cambridge is not the most attractive of all the London theatres, but is distinguishable for its clean lines, elegance and Art Deco design.

The theatre has undergone a number of interior changes - in the 1950 the original gold and silver decor was painted red and chandeliers and candelabras added to enhance the majesty of the auditorium. In 1987, Carl Toms returned the interior to its original splendor, refurbishing the theatre to it's gold and silver colour scheme.

The impressive auditorium holds over 1,200 people on three levels, and the classic decor enhances the overall ambience of the theatre.
