Tutankhamun's treasures are currently on display at London's O2 Arena (formerly the Millenium Dome.) Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs has some 130 items, up to 3,500 years old on display for the first time in the UK since the early 1970's. There are many exhibits on display that were not shown in the 70's, 50 of which come from his tomb.

The famous face mask has unfortunately been left out of the exhibition as it is considered too fragile to move. There are many more treasures to be see at the O2 Arena including his crown and the canopic coffinettes which contained the King's organs.

Early Life

Tutankhamun was only 8 years old when he became the pharaoh, and subsequently died 11 years later in most mysterious circumstances. The mystery of his death is one that has puzzled historians for years and will continue to provide questions for many more to come.

Career Highlights

As Tutankhamun was so young at the time of his rule, he would not have been in charge of making many decisions. This would have been left to his advisors, Ay and Hermrab. Possibly one of the most documented changes that occurred whilst Tutankhamun sat on the throne was the restoration of multiple Gods. His father and predecessor eliminated the worship of multiple Gods in favour of one God, the Aton, thus restoring peace to his kingdom.

• The boy King's body is kept in a climate-controlled glass case in order to preserve the remains
