Tim Rice wrote the lyrics for the top West End show, The Lion King, which is currently playing in London. The musical is a long running family favourite with a vibrant set and costumes and an inspirational soundtrack.Early Life
Tim Rice is a well known lyricist. In his early years he worked at EMI records under Norrie Paramor - the first producer of British Rock and Roll and original director of the UK EMI Columbia label. Through EMI Records he met Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber with whom he has had a long and successful collaboration.Career Highlights
Tim Rice has written chart-topping pop songs and presented radio programmes as well as creating some of the most renowned musicals in theatre history. Additionally, in 1981 he established his own publishing house, Pavilion Books.Tim has not only gained acclaim in this country, but has travelled widely, performing in many countries. His shows on Broadway and in Japan have been hugely successful, and his name is becoming more and more well recognised.
It is impossible to talk about Tim Rice's success without mentioning his collaborator Andrew Lloyd Webber. Together the two formed a formidable duo who have left an indelible mark of success on musical theatre with work such as Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jesus Christ Superstar and Evita. Tim Rice has also worked with other famous names such as Sir Cliff Richard, Paul McCartney, Freddy Mercury and Sir Elton John amongst others during his career.
