Early Life

Tamzin was born on 5th November 1970 in Essex. She attended the Stagestruck Theatre Company as a teenager and at 16 left school to join the London Studio Centre to study drama and dance. Already a success from a young age, she left with the trophy for best all-rounder. In 1987 Tamzin appeared as a presenter on the youth show, No Limits and she can also be seen in U2's music video for their song Mysterious Ways.

Career Highlights

Tamzin Outhwaite is probably better known for her role in the BBC soap Eastenders as Melanie Owen. She has also starred in West End shows including Boeing Boeing (2007) and Sweet Charity (2009/2010).

Interesting Facts

  • Tamzin is married to Eastenders actor Tom Ellis who played Dr Oliver Cousins
  • Tamzin presented a BBC documentary in 2001 about the positive effects of relationships between dolphin and man
