Summer Strallen has been cast to appear in Andrew Lloyd Webber's newest production, Love Never Dies, as Meg Giry. In 2008 Summer Strallen, who starred in the popular C4 soap, Hollyoaks, took over from Connie Fisher to play Maria in Andrew Lloyd Webber's West End revival of The Sound of Music. As part of a deliberate plan Strallen was first cast in Hollyoaks to play the part of Summer Straw, a confident, talented young lady who would stop at nothing in her relentless pursuit of stardom. In a well-planned, unique cross over, Strallen moved from TV soap to the West End and became the star of Webber's West End musical.Early Life
Summer was born Summer Vaigncourt-Strallen in London in 1983 where she first discovered her passion for acting. Though only young Summer has already appeared in numerous West End shows.From an early age it was clear Summer had a passion for the arts, starting her dance training at her grandmother's school The Young Set before continuing at the Arts Educational School and Laine Theatre Arts. It wasn't long before the young star made her mark in the West End appearing in an abundance of productions from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang to The Drowsy Chaperone.
Career Highlights
Summer has starred in a large variety of West End performances and pantomimes such as; Cats, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Guys and Dolls, The Boyfriend, Dick Whittington and His Cat, The Drowsy Chaperone and The Sound of Music. Summer has also voiced the part of Princess Lucy in The Big Knights, a British animated children's television series and was in Hotel Babylon.Interesting Facts
- She is the sister of fellow actress Scarlett Strallen, and the niece of Bonnie Langford
- Her sister Scarlett played Mary Poppins in the West End.
