Goold was born in 1972. She was educated at Trinity College in Cambridge and was trainee director at the Donnar Warehouse (1995/1996).

Goold has directed many plays including The Tempest, Macbeth, The Glass Menagerie and The Last Days of Judas Iscariot. He is currently directing the hit West End show Oliver.
