Rupert Goold is an English theatre director and the artistic director of Headlong theatre, previously known as the Oxford Stage Company. He will soon be directing Cameron Mackintosh's Oliver!.

Early Life

Goold studied at Trinity College in Cambridge and was trainee director at the Donnar Warehouse for the year 1995/6. Goold has directed many plays including The Tempest, Macbeth, The Glass Menagerie and The Last Days of Judas Iscariot. He is now married to British Actress Kate Fleetwood who played Lady Macbeth in Goold's Chichester 2007 production of Macbeth.

Rupert Goold won The Sydney Edwards Award for Best Director for his production of Macbeth in 2007. This is the highest point in his career s far. Now he gets to direct the winner of I'd Do Anything Jodie Prenger for the West End Show Oliver!
